Dr. Tharor is an internationally recognised writer and speaker on India’s economics and politics as well as on freedom of the press, human rights, Indian culture, and international affairs. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and served as an official spokesperson for the party from January to October 2014. Until 2007, he was a career official at the United Nations, rising to the rank of Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information in 2001. After 29 years at the UN, Tharoor announced his departure after finishing second in the 2006 elections for the Secretary-General to Ban Ki-moon. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs.
Devinder Sharma is a distinguished food and trade policy analyst. He is an award-winning Indian journalist, writer and thinker, who is well-known and respected for his views on food and trade policy. Trained as an agricultural scientist, Mr. Sharma worked as a journalist for the Indian Express, one of the largest selling English language dailies in India. He then quit active journalism to research on policy issues concerning sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and intellectual property rights, environment and development, and the implications of the free trade paradigm for developing countries.
Tomasz Kozlowski is the Ambassador of European Union to India. Prior to his current post he was EU Ambassador to South Korea. His stint at the EU includes formerly serving as Head for Asia of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and later as principal adviser for Asia and Latin America at the European Commission. Before the EU, he was a member of the Polish Diplomatic Service, and had worked for the United Nations in Cambodia and South Africa. His published works include topics on development cooperation, security issues and EU-Asia relations.
